.It is famous for tea, oil field. It is a small town of sivasagar district. there is a higher secondary(AHDHS School), a girs high school and a college(Amguri College) in this town.

Geography

Amguri is located at 26.58°N 93.07°E. It has an average elevation of 74 metres (242 feet). It is a beautiful town situated on the bank of the river Jhanji. Amguri is famous for its surrounding tea gardens and oil field.
