AmeriServ has been the title sponsor of this event for over 10 years. This festival originated from the National Folk Festival which was in Johnstown for 3 years in the early 1990s. Its name was originally just "The Johnstown Folkfest." AmeriServ became its title sponsor in 1996 and it was the "AmeriServ Johnstown Folkfest." The name again changed in 2009 and it is now the "AmeriServ Johnstown Flood City Music Festival."
