At the 2007 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, Anderson won silver medals in the 800 and 1500 m freestyle.

At the 2009 US Nationals and World Championship Trials, Anderson placed fourth in the 200 m freestyle, earning a place to compete in the 4x200 m freestyle relay at the 2009 World Aquatics Championships
