About the "Associu Ghjuvan Francescu"

Since 1991, the "Associu Ghjuvan Francescu" helps cancer research by collecting money by organizing a "fund raising day" in Altiani :
  • From 1 to 6 pm, many games for children between 4 and 12 are set up on the main place of the village with a lot of toys to win, sportive events such as races ( between 200m and 4 km ) or a petanque contest.
  • From 7 to 9 pm, food and drinks (including regional products) are sold and a tombola is organized.
  • From 9 to 10 pm, a Corsican band is invited to sing and play regional music.
  • From 10 pm to 5 am, the place turns into a dance floor with music and light effects performed by a DJ.

These funds are put back to the Paoli-Calmettes Institut and finance many materials to cure cancer or do research such as:
  • A voice-commanded robotic arm for coelio-surgery.
  • Research on genetic risks in cancer research.
  • Therapeutic apartments.
