Ali Shama

Ali Shama is a Bronx, USA-born artist of Arabian-Brazilian descent who has worked to create a vision of art that he could call his own. Since his days as a young graffiti artist, he has developed his skills in the broader tools of the trade, without losing sight of what compelled him to pick up spray painting. It is the fusion of graffiti with his love for such masters as Picasso, Braque, and Juan Gris
that defines Ali Shama’s unique style of “Hip-Hop Cubism.”
Ali Shama has a Masters of Fine Arts degree from CUNY-Lehman College
and previously studied art education at C.W. Post College / Long Island University
. He earned his second Masters Degree from Queens College, City University of New York
in Educational Administration & Supervision. He taught art at his alma mater, Lehman High School
in the Bronx for seven years. Later, he partnered up with graffiti artist, Seen, to further explore graffiti and its application. Ali Shama's work was included in the Guernsey's Graffiti Art Auction that included works by Seen, Crash, Dondi, Keith Haring
, and many more notable Graffiti Artists. Ali Shama's artwork has been greatly influenced through his travels throughout Europe and the Middle East.
Ali Shama was featured in the NY Daily News for his work as an Assistant Principal at John F. Kennedy H.S. in the Bronx. On October 14, 2008, Shama took over as Principal of Francis Lewis High School
