In 1952, it was taken over by the Egyptian government and converted to a national club and was managed by the Mahmoud Hamdy, the chairman of the club. 97% of the club area in occupied by a golf course. Those with annual memberships or who pay daily can play golf, as well as tourists. Summer memberships are available, too. It also has three swimming pools, tennis, horseracing, basketball, football, squash and many other facilities.
