When the third division became defunct in 1952, Aldershot joined the Southern League for a year and then the stadium was used for open meetings and Southern Area League events until 1960, when after a short season of open meetings, the track closed.
Speedway took place at a track in Boxhall Lane in the pioneer days of the late 1920s and early 1930s.
