The park comprises two new lakes which will serve both as landscape features and stormwater ponds. The lakes were created artificially in the late 2000s, though the park took somewhat longer to finish, and much of the new vegetation is still in the process of growing in as of 2010.

Providing an assembly / grassland area allowing up to 10,000 people to the north of the lakes, the park has been designated as one of the 'fan zones' for the Rugby World Cup 2011.
