(1196) . He was the son of Jamila Khatun, who was the elder sister of Baba Fareed. After the death of his father, Syed Abul Rahim, his mother, brought hm to Pakpattan
in 1204 to Baba Fareed. The story of his being given the title Sabir goes as follows:
Baba Fareed's sister gave custody of Alauddin to him and asked him to take care of the boy, who later made him his disciple. Baba Fareed made him in charge of the langar (free kitchen for everyone to feed). After a very long time Alauddin's mother came to see him and found him very weak. She was angry at her brother and demanded an explanation. Baba Fareed explained that he was made in charge of the kitchen and hence he should have had no shortage of food. When Alauddin was asked he replied, "True, I was made in charge of the kitchen, but I was never told I can eat from it". When asked how he managed to remain alive, he revealed he went to the jungle in free time and ate whatever he found. He was then given the title Sabir(The Patient One).
He reached Kaliyar Sharif in 1253 AD, after being anointed as the protector of 'Kaliyar Sharif' by Baba Fareed, who asked him to go Kaliyar , he stayed at Kaliyar for the rest of his life, and died here in 13th Rabi' al-awwal 690 Hijri (1291). He had just one disciple and the branch of the Chisti order, called Chisti Sabiri was initiated through that disciple.

Makhdum Sabir Pak was the nephew, disciple (mureed), son-in-law and successor (Khalifa) of Baba Fariduddin Masood Ganj-e-Shakar. The paternal genealogy of Baba Farid belongs to Umer Farooq according to some historians, while others trace his lineage back to Abdullah, the son of Imam Muhammad al-Baqir, the grandson of Imam Hussain.
and when she requested him to look towards her, Sabir asked; who are you? She replied that I'm your wife, and at that time Sabir was so busy in his spiritual journey and replied that Allah has no wife, He is AHAD, with this reply of Sabir, she (Baba Fareed's Daughter) burnt at the spot, and saying of his peer baba fareed came into reality that this marriage of sabir was impossible until he himself want to do so.
On his funeral day, it happened in the same way he commanded the disciples, they remained questioned who is that person who will give him a burial bath etc. thinking they did not do anything. After an hour the people there his congregation who have been appointed for his funeral they heard a sound of horse coming and within few minutes they saw there was a person in white clothing and he was on horse. The horseman came down and took the dead body of sabir and went inside a cottage and took some water and gave him the burial bath, everyone was shocked and puzzled who is he and what is going on inside the cottage. After a while he alone brings the dead body out and started making rows for offering his burial prayer and after reciting the prayer he then buried his dead body and was ready to leave. At that moment, one of Sabir's disciple stopped him and asked, "Who are you oh lucky person, who gave bath to our master, please show us your face" but that horse man doesn't agree on showing his face, remaining adamant about it they asked again. So the horseman removes his veil over the face and the congregation saw, it was non other but Sabir himself. They asked " what is this" then Sabir replied and taught them the meaning of the question fana and ba'qa, that what you just saw the body that (fana) it has to be layer with soil again and it shall perish, but this what you see now is (ba'qa) never perishing the spirit, spirit that God gave me which came from heaven and saying this he disappeared. So this was the answer to the question that one of his disciple asked him one day what is the meaning of fana and ba'qa so he fulfilled it and showed them the meaning on his funeral.
.
However, only Khawaja Shams-Ud-Din Turk Pani Pati was made Khalifa (successor) in his lifetime. He used to ask Sabri Sarkar the difference between Fanaa (End of Life) and Baqaa (Existence). Sahib told him that when he will perform his first Karamat that day I will die. He also advised Khawaja Sahib that when he dies, there will be a person who will offer my last prayers and no one should ask him where he came from. Khawaja Shams Ud Din heard the sad news of Sahib death and rushed to his funeral. When he was there a person on a horse came and offered His last prayers; Khawaja insisted to see who this person was and He took off his veil and there was Sahib himself .He smiled and said to Khawaja that I am Baqqa and my body is Faana.
The order (silsila-e-wala`et) started from Ali Haider-e-Karar and then this spiritual order continued through Khawaja Hasan Basri. This spiritual order further came to Chisht (name of a town) through successors of Khawaja Hasan Basri). Khawaja Abu Ishaq Shami Chishti was one of the saints of this order and also head of the Chishti Order. He was also called “Sar-e-Chishtian”. Khawaja Abu Ishaq Shami Chishti belonged to a town “Chisht” and called Chishti because of it.
After many stages and through famous saints this Chsihti Order reached a great saint Khawaja Moeen-ud-Din Hasan Chishti Ajmeri and his successors Khawaja Qutab-ud-Din Bukhtiar Kaki Aoshi and Baba Fareed uddin Masood Ganje Shakar of Pak Pattan Sharif.
There are many successors of Baba Fareed-ud-Din Masood Ganje Shakar and it is impossible to count them. But the “Qutabs” (religious mendicants) of Baba Fareed Ganje Shakar are twenty-two (22). The most famous religious and spiritual Qutabs are Sultan-ul-Aolia Khatum-ul-Arwah Syed Makhdum Ala-ud-Din Ali Ahmed Sabir Kalyari and Mehboob-e-Elahi Khawaja Nizam-ud-Din Aolia.
The successors and followers of Khawaja Nizam-ud-Din Aolia are called “Chishti Nizami”. The successors and followers of Makhdum Ala-ud-Din Ali Ahmed Sabir are called “Chishti Sabri”.
In Pakistan and throughout the world, the Sabri silsilah is also being spread through Abu Anees Muhammad Barkat Ali, rector of Darulehsan, Faisalabad. He has had a complete biography of Sabir (whom he calls his 'spiritual guide') written by one of his mureeds (namely Haji Muhammad Bashir Ambalvi) which is available in both Urdu and English:

Family
The father of Makhdum Alauddin Ali Ahmed Sabir Kalyari was Abdul Raheem Abdul Salam Shah and the grandfather was Syed Abdul Wahab. Syed Abdul Wahab was the son of Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jillani Meboob-e-Subhani Hasni-o-Hussaini.Makhdum Sabir Pak was the nephew, disciple (mureed), son-in-law and successor (Khalifa) of Baba Fariduddin Masood Ganj-e-Shakar. The paternal genealogy of Baba Farid belongs to Umer Farooq according to some historians, while others trace his lineage back to Abdullah, the son of Imam Muhammad al-Baqir, the grandson of Imam Hussain.
Learnings and miracles
Sabir was far recognize for his jalal. His studies were basically more spiritual and his main teacher was his peer his uncle baba fareed. He was always in zikr and constantly kept quiet. On an occasion his mother asked sabir's uncle her brother that, sabir has reached the age of marriage, so she asked baba fareed can he give his daughter in nikah to Sabir, Fareed knowing the condition of his disciple Sabir, he told his sister that this can't be possible until he himself want to do so. Sabir's mother urged and after a long request Baba Fareed been helpless agreed to give his daughter to Sabir. so they got married and on their wedding night when Sabir went to his bedroom he saw a woman sitting on his right side, been married he was not aware of (because many sufi saints when they do their spiritual journey they are not aware of themselves, they are overjoyed with God). So his wife Baba Fareed's daughter sits in same position for whole night.and when she requested him to look towards her, Sabir asked; who are you? She replied that I'm your wife, and at that time Sabir was so busy in his spiritual journey and replied that Allah has no wife, He is AHAD, with this reply of Sabir, she (Baba Fareed's Daughter) burnt at the spot, and saying of his peer baba fareed came into reality that this marriage of sabir was impossible until he himself want to do so.
Fana and Ba'qa
Most of the time Sufi saints who teaches their disciple the lesson and the meaning of fana and ba'qa the story or the example comes from the clear incident of Sabir Piya. The story or the example of fana(extinction, annihilation) and Ba'qa (eternal life in union with God)is explained with example of sabir pak because of his death incident. Before he died he commanded his disciples that when he(sabir) dies no one should touch his body. No one will give burial bath and no one will bury him, but they(disciples) should wait until a man will come riding on horse in white color clothes and he shall give bath to his body, before that no one should touch the body least they shall die.On his funeral day, it happened in the same way he commanded the disciples, they remained questioned who is that person who will give him a burial bath etc. thinking they did not do anything.
