Alanya , formerly Alaiye, is a beach resort city and a component district of Antalya Province in the Mediterranean Region of Turkey, from the city of Antalya. On the southern coast of Turkey, the district has an area of 1,598.51 km2 and 248,286 inhabitants...

. The last Saturday and Sunday of the month of May are festival days for the southern Mediterranean town of Alanya. 2011 festival is betwwen 28.th and 31.th of May.

All aspects of the district’s cultural and artistic life finds representation at the event. Through the festivities, Alanya Municipality seeks to promote several forgotten or lost traditions and cultural assets by means of street exhibitions and shows.

Alanya has 12 sister cities from several foreign countries that also contribute to the festival. The town’s sister cities include Gladbeck in Germany, Schwechat in Austria, Fushun in China, Rovaniemi in Finland, Boras in Sweden, Talsi in Latvia, Trakai in Lithuania, Keszthely in Hungary, Wodzislaw Slaski in Poland, Nea-Ionia in Greece, Spindleruv-Mlyn in the Czech Republic and the Southeastern Administrative District of Moscow in Russia. 2011 theme is Turkey-Finland year.

The municipality of Alanya announces one of its sister cities as the Sister City of the year at each event, organizing several special activities from that city to promote its culture.
