Jeremy is always getting into mischief in the books. He has parents, "Mummy" and "Daddy", and two baby twins "Christopher" and "Jennifer". Christopher and Jennifer refer to themselves as "Kwiffer" and "Jeffer" respectively, and to Jeremy James as "Jem-Jem".

  • "Timothy Smyth-Fortescue" - The son of the very rich family next door to Jeremy James. He is very spoilt and 'only plays games which he is bound to win' (From "Never Steal Wheels from a Dog").
  • "Mrs. Smyth-Fortescue" - Timothy's Mother
  • "Mr. Smyth-Fortescue" - Timothy's Father, who, in "Never Steal Wheels from a Dog" is believed to be a gangster by Jeremy James and his friend Richard, because Richard hears him talking about "the underworld". Jeremy James eventually finds out that "Mystery Smyth-Fortescue" was actually talking about "the underwear"!
  • "Richard" - Jeremy James' best friend.
  • "Gran" - Richard's gran.
  • "Trevor" - The small nervous boy, another friend of Jeremy James.
  • "The Reverend Cole" - The old and rickety reverend of the church that Jeremy James and his family attend, he dropped Christopher in the font during the twins' christening.
