Whilst attending Wallington County Grammar School for boys, Simpson, along with another pupil, formed a two-piece folk band called Two’s Company. After attracting local interest, a third band member joined and they changed their name to Three’s a Crowd, before finally settling on the more mainstream Crème Brûlée

A promising high jumper, Simpson came 3rd in the all-England under 16 championships, only missing out on a Team Great Britain place because of his unruly hair and penchant for tight shorts.

Simpson became a member of the British University Ski Team, BUST, whilst studying at Leeds University from 1990 to 1993. His natural aptitude for the sport was obvious during the 1993 competition in Les Arcs

Simpson has agreed to front the re-launch of the popular football show Saint & Greavsie, which ITV are bringing back in 2012. However, contract negotiations have hit a sticky patch due to Simpson's refusal to change his name to Jimmy Greaves, put on 27 pounds and sport a 'comb-over'.
