Today it is considered as a part of Jamshedpur city. It is predominantly an industrial region and once held the record of being the largest industrial belt in Asia.

, Adityapur had a population of 2,10,521. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Adityapur has an average literacy rate of 68%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 60% of the males and 40% of females literate. 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Geography

Kharkai river surrounds Adityapur from three sides (except west), and is connected with the well known Cosmopolitan City of Jamshedpur (famous for Tata Steel) through a small bridge over river of Kharkai (east of Adityapur).

Transport

Adityapur has got its own Railway Station (small), Radio Station (called All India Radio, Jamshedpur, 1584 kHz and Vividh Bharti FM at 100.8 MHz).

Economy

Adityapur is one of the largest Industrial Areas in India, and one Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is very soon coming up. and AIADA (Adityapur industrial dovelopment authority).

Education

There is a National Institute of Technology (NIT Jamshedpur), Government Polytechnic College, Al-kabir polytechnic, Indo Danish Tool Room and Training Centre for preparing technical hands.

Problems

Adityapur is rapidly growing terms of housing in addition to the small-mid-size industrial sector. Areas that need immediate attention are infrastructure (one additional bridge over Kharkai river, healthy availability of electricity for both industrial and residential use), facilities of drinking water and sanitation,medical facilities and entertainment.
