Amateur career

With an Outstanding Amateur Record of 278-24. He has won the National Police Athletic League championships twice, the Blue & Gold National Invitational championship, the gold medal at the Junior Olympic championships and Elite Camp Box-off in 1994. He outpointed an Irish opponent in the 1994 USA/Ireland Junior Olympic Dual and has racked up many silver and bronze medals. Reyes is the 1997 Golden Gloves Champion at Light Welterweight.

Pro career

On August 4, 2000 with a six round unanimous decision Reyes beat veteran Jose Luis Montes.
