Schein graduated from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications in 1999 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. He won the John Bayliss Award for Excellence in Radio Journalism in 1998 and 1999.
Schein and his wife, Katie, gave birth to the couple's first child, a daughter named Jolie, in April 2008.
