There are various accounts of the origins or history of Aboh (Obodo Eze). The people of Aboh are said to have migrated from Benin kingdom, during the reign of Oba Ozolua, about the later part of the 15th century. During the migration, the people of Aboh were led by Prince Obazome (also known as Esumai-Ukwu). He was accompanied by some of his kinsmen, some of whom parted as they moved eastward towards the River Niger from Benin kingdom. Among his kinsmen, where Oputa (his brother) who founded Usoro, Ettimi was said to have founded Afor, while Ezomo founded Ashaka. Prince Ugbo was said to have led his group straight from Orogodo to the where the Ezechima clan are.

Prince Esumai led the people of Aboh further eastwards, and after crossing the Osimilinta they settled at Oforbo, for a while. They later moved to the present location of Aboh town, where they met the people of Akiria (or Akarai). They displaced the Akiria people in the ensuing battles, and Prince Esumai established the Aboh Kingdom, and became the Obi of Aboh (King). Obi Imegwu is the present Obi of Aboh Kingdom.

The first Obi of Aboh, Esumai, was said to have had two sons, Ogwezi and Ugbo. Succession squabbles between the brothers, led Prince Ugbo (the junior of the two sons) and his followers to leave Aboh and move upland, to Orogun, particularly in Aboh-Orogun village. Ogwezi had four sons, their descendants provide the candidates for the throne; that is they constitute the Ruling houses. They are Ojugbeli, Ogwezi, Oseai and Ozegbe.Aboh people are hard working, they are very good in fishing.Aboh people were so strong the early stages of development they were the strongest along the river niger. Politically, an Aboh man was once the spesker of Bendel state house of assembly.
Aboh is bounded in the north by Asaba, while in the south by Osekwenke. Abalagada is quarter in Aboh, though they live up north to protect the king and also expansion purpose. In the present Christiana Williams is the princess of Aboh with 7 children and 8 grandchildren.
