Abkhazia–Russia relations is the bilateral relationship between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation.
Russia recognised Abkhazia on 26 August 2008, following the August 2008 South Ossetia war

On 25 October Russian President Dmitry Medvedev
appointed Semyon Grigoriyev
as the first Ambassador of Russia to Abkhazia,, and on 14 November Igor Akhba
was appointed as the first Ambassador of Abkhazia to Russia by President of Abkhazia Sergei Bagapsh
. Grigoriyev presented his Letters of Credence to Bagapsh on 16 December 2008 – Akhba presented his Letters of Credence to Medvedev on 16 January 2009.
