Abdullah Md Zin is a Malaysian politician and is currently the Member of the Parliament of Malaysia
for the Besut
constituency in Terengganu
. He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation
(UMNO) party in the ruling Barisan Nasional
coalition.
Before entering politics, Abdullah was Deputy Rector of the Islamic University College of Malaysia
, having obtained a Doctor of Philosophy
from the University of Kent
and studied at Al-Azhar University
.
Abdullah was elected to Parliament in the 2004 election
defeating Nasharudin Mat Isa
of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, and then served as a Minister in the Prime Minister's Department. Abdullah was re-elected to Parliament in the 2008 election
. In March 2009, he was appointed religious adviser to the Prime Minister.
