Aaron met his wife, Kenda, in San Jose, California and married in 2004. They have 3 kids named Luke, Gracie and Ella.

In the late 1990s, Aaron decided to pursue a solo career. While recording his first solo album, Aaron, his wife and children, were involved in a near fatal car accident. After recovering from his injuries, Mr. Benward was able to release his debut album titled Imagine, in 2000.

Aaron then founded the country music duo Blue County

. Blue County went on to have a top 10 Billboard single called "Good Little Girls" as well as a top 20 Billboard single that Aaron co-wrote called "That's Cool". They also received numerous CMA and ACM award nominations over a 5 year period. They toured with the likes of Rascal Flatts, Sugarland, Keith Urban and Tim McGraw and were featured artists in the Chevrolet "Fashion Rocks" campaign.

In 2009, Aaron, along with his friend Brian McComas, created a show in Las Vegas at Green Valley Ranch Hotel and Casino, called "Nashville Unplugged: The Story Behind the Song", that features hit singer/songwriters from all genres and is a "back porch style" show where the audience is able to get a sneak peek behind the curtain of how hit songs are born.

Aaron is currently the music supervisor and associate producer for a film shooting in Austin, Texas in November of 2011 called "16 South" starring Randy Travis and Eric Roberts.

In July 2011, Aaron brought his management and creative efforts to L.A. to join forces with Michael Carney, of One October, and launch a full service management and production company. They have numerous projects in development and a roster that includes Tiffany Thornton of Disney Channel's "So Random", his son, Luke Benward, the star of Disney Channel's new original series "Madison High" set to debut in January and the new girl pop super group "The Bettys".
