The four of them get together and talk about the interns.
Bailey is confused about why she is not the new chief resident. Derek invites everyone to a drink because now, with Burke and Addison gone, he is alone. George makes friends with Lexie.

An accident fills the hospital with patients.
Meanwhile, Callie has trouble controlling the residents. The ambulances arrive and Cristina takes a dead guy that then proves to be alive, Meredith and Bailey take a pregnant woman whose arm was cut clean, and Alex treats a man with a knee injury, who talks about the accident and says he’s hungry.

Meredith tries to go inside the hospital with the pregnant woman, but Lexie cuts her path and introduces herself.
A kid and his father get to the ER and bring the lost arm to Meredith. The kid asks for help for the deer that caused the accident. Izzie decides to treat the deer, but the kid's father doesn't want to. Izzie still tries to help "bambi".

The Chief tries to talk to Bailey about Chief Residency, but she avoids the subject by asking him about his wife.
Derek tells Cristina that Burke resigned two weeks ago.

Izzie confronts George for avoiding her, but George is upset and leaves without answering. Mark, in his try to be friends with Derek, talks to him about Meredith, offending her in the process. Derek defend Meredith and walks away angry.
Izzie manages to save the deer while George delivers Nancy's baby (Meredith's patient) during the surgery (arm re-attaching), and then talks to Lexie about it, and Lexie tells him to stop feeling sorry for himself.

Joey, Alex's patient, is treated after Bailey finds out that he has been eating coins (pica disease

Cristina and Alex talk in the hallway. Alex says he misses Rebecca, and Cristina says she misses Burke.

Callie talks to Bailey about her bad attitude to Callie due to the chief resident work. Bailey doesn't answer.
Meredith accidentally meets Lexie and Derek, both call her but she goes with Derek. George finds Izzie and tells her that he loves her.
