AGF Management Limited, American Growth Fund, is a Canadian investment management company with offices across Canada and subsidiaries around the world. Founded in 1957, AGF serves more than one million investors. To serve the needs of a broad range of diversified clients worldwide, the firm consists of two distinct businesses: AGF Investments and AGF Trust.

AGF's products include a diversified family of award-winning mutual funds, mutual fund wrap programs and pooled funds. AGF also manages assets on behalf of institutional investors including pension plans, foundations and endowments as well as for private clients. In addition, AGF Trust is a complementary business that offers GICs, loans and mortgages through the financial advisor and mortgage broker channels.

History

AGF was founded in 1957 by C. Warren Goldring (1927 - 2009) and Allan Manford. They pooled the funds of Canadian investors giving them greater access to the U.S. market through the New York Stock Exchange

 with the launch of the American Growth Fund.
The co-founders used the initials from the first fund to name the company.

Today, AGF is one of the largest independent Canadian investment management firms with offices in Toronto and Montréal. In addition to offices across Canada, AGF has international operations in Boston, London, Dublin, Hong Kong, Singapore and Beijing.

Health and Well Being
  • Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Canada (JDRF)- AGF has proudly participated in JDRF’s Ride for Diabetes Research in Toronto for the past five years. Judy Goldring, Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel, took on the role of co-chair of the Toronto Ride in 2009.

This partnership was initiated by AGF co-founder C. Warren Goldring, who joined other concerned and community-minded citizens to actively promote the concept of pooling community resources in the 1950s.


Investing in our Environment
  • World Wildlife Fund-Canada – AGF first began partnering with WWF-Canada in the 1980s to raise awareness about the Sumatran tiger – their corporate symbol. Over the years, the firm has worked with WWF-Canada to save the highly endangered Sumatran tiger and to educate the public about the WWF-Canada's efforts to protect all endangered species.
  • Earth Day Canada - Building on Acuity’s pre-existing partnership with Earth Day Canada, AGF will work with Earth Day Canada to provide employees with volunteer opportunities and interactive sessions that promote environmental sustainability in the office and at home. This year, the firm sponsored the 8th Annual Earth Day Canada Gala.

     – AGF supports the Toronto Zoo in its efforts to bring further awareness to the endangered Sumatran tigers and preserve their population – approximately 400 Sumatran tigers remain in the wild.
  • Conservation Initiatives - AGF rents thousands of square feet of office space across Canada related to the management and operation of its business. As such, they are committed to operating their office space in a sustainable manner by managing and maintaining it in line with evolving conservation practices.


Investing in the Arts and Culture
  • TIFF – AGF was one of the early supporters of the Toronto International Film Festival and its initiatives of giving Canadian filmmakers greater exposure and Canadian audiences access to world cinema.

The Writers' Trust of Canada - AGF actively supports the various programs offered through the Writers' Trust of Canada. The Writers' Trust offers opportunity, rewards success and helps foster the growth of a community ensuring that amid the din of competing voices Canadian stories are shared.
