In 1992, the name changed to Applied Career Training as the institution changed its focus to exclusively providing programs in Allied Health education.
In 1998, ACT College opened a second campus located at 6118 Franconia Road in Alexandria, Virginia
. This campus is approximately one-mile from the Franconia-Springfield Metro station.
In 2003, ACT College opened a third campus located at 8870 Rixlew Lane in Manassas, Virginia
. This campus is next to Stonewall Jackson High School approximately one-mile from the Manassas Mall.
In 2004, the institution underwent another name change to ACT College to reflect its expansion into Associates Degree programs and continuing education courses.
In May 2010, ACT College moved the school’s Main Campus in Arlington, Virginia
. Formerly located in the twin towers building at 1100 Wilson Blvd., the main campus now occupies the entire first floor of 1400 Key Blvd. This location is near the Rosslyn metro station.

Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant diploma program prepares students for employment assisting physicians and medical group practices with clinical tasks. Training includes:- Administering medications
- Vital sign measurement
- Assisting with surgical procedures
- Performing electrocardiographs
- Phlebotomy
- Assisting with physical examinations
- Patient education
- Basic medical office procedures
Medical Office Administration
The Medical Office Administration diploma program prepares students for employment as an administrative specialist in medical and dental practices, clinics, and hospitals. Training includes:- Maintaining patient charts and medical information according to HIPAA requirements
- Performing patient reception and scheduling
- Demonstrating proper telephone etiquette
- Providing patient referrals
- Verifying patient insurance information
- Exhibiting a working knowledge of medical terminology
- Performing basic clinical procedures and patient assessment techniques (e.g. CPR, Vital Signs)
- Demonstrating basic principles of medical office administration
Dental Assisting
The Dental Assisting diploma program prepares students for employment in dental offices and clinics. Training includes:- Chairside assisting (using four-handed dentistry)
- Taking and exposing radiographs
- Preliminary examination procedures
- Charting and maintaining patient records
Pharmacy Technician
The Pharmacy Technician diploma program prepares students for entry-level employment assisting pharmacists. Training includes:- Preparing and dispensing medications
- Maintaining written and computerized patient medication records
- Stocking and inventorying drugs and medications
- Labeling and packaging prescription medications
- Demonstrating effective customer service skills
