. By 1940, the school had grown to the point that it moved off the university campus, thus marking the birth of College Station ISD. Today, CSISD is one of three public school districts in Brazos County. Around the 1970s, the school was moved to a location further south in town. This move also changed the name of the school from "A&M High School" to "A&M Consolidated High School", after it merged with the black-only Lincoln High School. Slowly, the school grew.
By the mid-1990s, the school was showing age, so it began a large-scale renovation, including asbestos
removal, additional parking, exterior resurfacing, a total renovation of the auditorium, and the enclosure of an open-air courtyard, where a library was placed. The renovation was from 1996 to 1998.
