. They regiment was uniformed after French chasseur soldiers. Companies A and B however uniformed themselves as Zouaves. Their uniform consisted of a dark blue Zouave jacket with yellow trimming, a dark blue Zouave vest with yellow trimming, a sky blue sash, a red Zouave cap with a yellow tassel, red pantaloons with yellow trimming, yellow jamberies, and white gaiters. The two "Zouave" companies were uniformed after the Imperial Zouaves of France.
