The 59th Ordnance Brigade was a military unit of the United States Army
. The brigade
had more than 6,500 soldiers. It was responsible for delivering, maintaining and supervising the weapons of mass destruction ("special ammo") for forces of the allied NATO-countries.
In October 1972 the SASCOM was overtaken. The Brigade got the addition SASCOM in its name.
In June 1992 the Brigade was deactivated after it had removed a lot of nuclear weapons from Europe.
It was reactivated in Redstone Arsenal

History
The 71st Ordnance Battalion was activated in Germany in 1955. 1959 it was formed into the AWSCOM. On 24 March 1962 it was renamed into 59th Ordnance Brigade.In October 1972 the SASCOM was overtaken. The Brigade got the addition SASCOM in its name.
In June 1992 the Brigade was deactivated after it had removed a lot of nuclear weapons from Europe.
It was reactivated in Redstone Arsenal
