Incident

On April 13 around 2:30 to 3 pm a migrant worker, his wife and child were crossing an intersection

on foot. They were waiting for a motorcycle. Suddenly a vehicle driven by the government's urban management officers (城市管理局/城管) pulled up behind the motorcycle. The tried to jump the redlight and force their way through the junction. An argument broke out between the migrant worker who didn't move and the urban officers.

The eight urban officers then physically attacked the migrant worker. The couple was then beaten, and the man was seriously injured. The victim then refused to get into an ambulance and lay in the middle of the street attracting a large audience.

Riot

Citizens started showing up demanding justice as a crowd of about 2,000 started attacking the police. A large group of police then arrived on the scene. The rioters set four police motorcycles on fire, and one police car was flipped over. About 10 protesters were arrested afterwards. The incident went on until 11 pm.
