(UTSA), playing its first football season in school history, is technically a new FCS program. However, UTSA has already announced that it is transitioning to the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). As a result, the 2011 season will be the only one in which it will play an 11-game FCS schedule. The Roadrunners will play one season as an FCS independent and under NCAA rules for transitioning programs will be ineligible for the FCS playoffs. They will then join the Western Athletic Conference
