2009 IFA Shield

The 2009 tournament kicks off on August 30 with the game between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Lajong FC, Shillong.

The teams are divided into 4 groups with each group consisting of 3 teams. The winner of each group will qualify for the semifinals.

Senegal team, AS Douanes, Dakar will add the African flair in the tournament, Tata Football Academy has qualified to play in this tournament after winning the Prodyut Dutta Memorial Trophy, and the rest all are I-League 1 & 2 teams.

The final will be played on September 12. ESPN will telecast the two semifinals and final live from the Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Saltlake.

The organising IFA is yet to decide on the venues for the league matches. The probable venues would be Mohun Bagan ground, East Bengal ground, Howrah Municipal Stadium, Barasat Stadium and Kalyani Municipal Stadium.
