Notable events

  • April 16, 1978: Opening Day, Toyota defeated Tanduay, 127-120, In the second game of the double-header, U/tex defeated Crispa, 103-94.
  • November 14, 1978: U/tex Wranglers, reinforced by Byron "Snake" Jones and Glen McDonald, completed a three-game finals sweep, winning over Crispa Redmanizers in Game 3, 104-96, to become the first team, outside of Crispa and Toyota, to win the PBA title.
