The 1897 Atlantic hurricane season ran through the summer and the first half of fall in 1897. The season was a fairly inactive one, with six storms forming, only three of which became hurricanes.

Hurricane Two
The second storm formed on September 10 and lasted until September 13. It formed directly above Cuba and hit Louisiana and parts of Texas. Its maximum sustained winds were at 85 mph.Tropical Storm Three

The fourth storm formed on September 25 and lasted until September 29. It formed in the Western Caribbean Sea, headed northward, and dissipated over the eastern Gulf of Mexico. Its maximum sustained winds were at 45 mph.Hurricane Five
The fifth storm formed on October 9 and lasted until October 22. It formed near the Lesser Antilles and curved around Cuba, hitting Florida, then going off to the sea and dissipating.
