1901 Kiowa land in Oklahoma is opened for white settlement, effectively dissolving the contiguous reservation.
1962 The New Mexico Supreme Court in the case of Montoya v. Bolack, 70 N.M. 196, prohibits state and local governments from denying Indians the right to vote because they live on a reservation.
