I have recently been reading Animal Farm and studying Stalinist Russia and realized that the animals represent people associated with the communist movement of Russia. Old Major represents Karl Marx, Snowball represents Vladmir Lenin, i think that Snowball represents Trotsky, but Trotsky was exiled, so i may be mistaken. Napoleon represents Stalin, Moses represents the Russian Orthodox Church, the dogs represent the NKVD, or the Stalinist secret police, and the rest of the lower farm animals represent different feelings, emotions and attitudes towards the governing communist body
