Ok, wel i guess im the first to post. First off id like to say that this site is great and I hope to see it more widely used in the future. I like the I idea of a "universe of knowledge".

Ok Question. What is the (IYO) best brand/type of kava. Ive tried the stone ground from Nakamal at home (www.nakamalathome.com) and am so far very pleased. However, I have heard the there are some types from Hawaii that are very good as well. Hope to hear something soon. Thanx

Oh yah, I would also like to state that in the description "Definition" on this site it says that the drink contains alcohol. That is mostly false (unless you add it your self or purchase a preparation containing alcohol from a bar) and in no way should you EVER MIX KAVA WITH ALCOHOL!! The combination toxifies the liver very rapidly and can lead to permanent damage. Its probly best you dont consume alcohol for at least 24 hours after consuming Kava.

Well, I own a Kava Bar in Hawaii and grow every Hawaiian variety. As with many herbs each variety has its subtle differences. There are Kava varieties that knock you out, make you energized, make you talkative, make you more introverted and spiritual. It really depends on the variety. I sell all varieties and love to hook people of with Hiwa. Hiwa was reserved for Hawaiian priest. It was one of only a few plants that were offered to Pele the Goddess of the Volcano. It produces a mellow relaxed feeling, that puts you at ease enough to communicate effectively with others, but is most known for its ability to allow the user to work out problems in their head.
