Is the Milankovitch astronomical cycle theory of ice ages broadly accepted by scientists? Shouldn't they be able to calculate when the holocene interglacial period will come to an end? It looks overdue. It's hard to find information on this, and you'd think it would get more attention.

The majority of ppl have no idea what the Holocene period is. The school systems fail to really address History of the Earth. Politics is more in the accepted criteria. Magnetic Excursions, and their implications are not ever addressed. The anomalies of the 'Younger Dryas' are Never mentioned. Milankovitch and Maunder are not addressed. I doubt if any teachers even know what those names refer to. Education is being squandered in the name of Politics.

In my experience having two kids in public school, one of whom is extremely bright, knowledgeable teachers are rare as hens teeth. I would be stunned if all the teachers associated with my children could spell Maunder, or Milankovitch without consulting a dictionary never mind know who or what the names refer to.

My son (the bright one) came home crying over polar bears. I was FURIOUS! I spent three hours showing him you tube videos and web sites I've recently discovered until he understood.
yesterday he got sent to the office for telling his teacher that global warming was a 'load of hooey'.
I took him out for ice cream.

If a ten year old gets it, why can't a grown woman with an education? I'm stunned that she hasn't researched something she's teaching my kid. Just hand her a text book and show her a few commercials and she's good to go.

YEAH for You Dawn, and Double Yeah for him. My nephew is the same way. He battled his teachers with facts, all through school and college. Eventually he learned to just humor them, tell them what they wanted to hear to get grades, and educated himself and friends in the meantime.

He and his Dad/Mom published two beautiful books, one on 'The Crusades'.
