Please could someone help to me,
I am researching my wifes grandfather who has died in Tunisia in 1949. I have tried to search the web on any contacts / incursions that took place during that year with the french military but have been unsucessful. We have had trouble obtaing a death cert for him also. What we have discovered off the net is that he was in Div 16 and EX 2552.6953 which I assume is his service number, he was apparently an officer and had foreign troops under his command in Vietnam prior to being deployed to tunisia could this mean the French Foreign Legion? how should I proceed from here, is it possible to obtain his service records or is it classified?
