The UK police is an all officer organisation. A Constable equates to a Lieutenant in the Regular Army. A Chief Constable to a Major General (General de Division) The highest police position in the UK that of Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis equates to an Army General (General de Armee). There is not and never as been any NCO (Sous-officier structure).

It is the highest paid police service outside of certain Departments in South West and North East USA.

Every Constable has the full powers of arrest.

They have taken foreign nationals from the European Union and British Commonwealth for many years now. 20% of the Police in London or foreign nationals.
