We've been told by world leaders that a the greatest threat to our security is a terrorist group armed with a nuclear weapon by unstable nuclear powers like Pakistan or Iran.

This is nothing more than propaganda. If a terrorist group detonated a nuclear bomb in Tel Aviv or New York, it would be the greatest disaster in the history of the world. Every detail about the origins of the weapon would known.

The retribution against these powers would be no different than if the source of the weapon had detonated it without using a terrorist. For this reason, it simply won't happen.

I agree that it is unlikely that nuclear-armed nations will provide weapons to terrorists - but the consequences would be so catastrophic that the prospect cannot be ignored.
