My Husband was born in the Black Forest area, Freiburg, of Germany in 1954 to a single mother of German descent. He was placed in an orphange at approx. aget two in Ottenhoefen. He know a little of his history as it was given to the nuns who ran the orphanage. He knows that his father was in the French Foreign Legion and possibly had the last name of "Claudson." His father may have been of German descent and took the name Claudson after becoming a French citizen?
My husband is now living in Canada, he was adopted by a Canadian airforce couple in 1958.
Is it possible to search out past members of the French Foreign Legion? Where would I find that kind of information?

Sorry madame,
The legion will not give any information about former legionnaire s out of principle. And the name might have been an alias anyway. But he should be proud of his romantic father. Smelling of les sables chaude, ah mon legionnaire.
