I have a half brother...same father, different mother. He has a first cousin on his mother's side. I was in a discussion wherein I stated to his first cousin that I had to be more closely related to my half brother than he. I am certain that I am correct, but cannot prove it mathemeically, or in any other form. Can someone explain the geneaeological relationshops, and then give me a mathematical probability of closeness to my sibling vs. his cousins closeness. Is there a name for this relationship (between my brother's cousin...no blood between us) and me?
