I got an infestation of vinegar flies probably from having too loose a cloth cover.

The vinegar is made but is it okay?

There are two ways to go but I don't know which path to take.

1. simply strain the batch to get rid of any drowned flies and use it, and sanitize the barrel to get rid of eggs and then reuse it for a new batch

2. Dump the batch and start again after sanitizing the barrel.

One odd thing is that there is no mother floating on the top. Did the flies eat it?
