I attended a recent Chagall exhibit in Seoul Korea. I noted that most of his early pieces from the 1916 on were signed as Marc Chagall using English Characters with the exception of Le Promenade from 1917-1918 where he used Russia cyrlic alphabet letters to sign his name (Шагал
). Does anyone have any information on this deviation. Just Curious.

I am searching Chagall signatures to identify the work that we have ... he did sign lower left, center lower, right, upper right ... sometimes with Marc and others just Chagall ... his "l's" were unique to his signature as they have a loop ... could almost look like an elongated E ...

We have LEC or LAC in caps on the lower right corner ...
interested in any comments about this. It is a country scene as his Russian gentre ... two men carrying a deer, two people behind them -- all with Russian caps ... deep red overtone with church in the far background.

Thanks for any comments?
