I am completing a paper in gravity waves and need help in finding a referenced author. He published a brilliant Note in the Cambridge and Dublin Mathematical Journal in 1848 entitled "Note on the Problem of Falling Bodies as Affected by the Earth's Rotation" ; and only signed it with his initials 'W.S.' as being at Trinity College, Feb. 5, 1848. I understand that it was made common practise at that time to only give initials; but it doesn't help to give full credit to the individual. Can anyone help narrow the possibilities to Faculty, Tutors or (possibly?) students of Astrodynamics, Mechanics or Mathematics at that time?
I would appreciate any help.
Sincerely, Dr. William (Bill) Todd Engineering Scientist
