Green mythology is development and expansion from far eastern cultures such as India, its hard to say how it was just influence of far east that created the basic ancient greek mythology.

I think that is a reflection of the ancient Greeks' attitude on life and their discover of the world. Overall, it is a reflection of the ancient Greek Culture.

Greek Mythology was invented like any other mythology was developed. In our dim past as a race, humanity expressed curiosity about the world surrounding itself. Not only did they seek to explain why things happened the way they did (the cycle of seasons, rain, dryness, etc), they also sought to understand historical events that seemed inexplicable. Never forget Heinrich Schlieman. Everyone thought he was completely out of his effing mind until he actually found the city of Troy.

The question then, is not whether the histories that the myths relate actually happened or not. I expect they did. The question is, what was the interference of the Gods and Goddesses all about? The same could be asked about the Hebrew Bible (the Old Testament, for you Christians out there). We know that most of the history is actually correct in it. But did God actually talk to Moses from the midst of a burning bush?

Or did Moses make that part up? Or better yet, back to the Greek Gods and Goddesses. Could they have been Angels of God sent to the Greeks to help them with their spiritual growth?
