Thanks for your data about Cyrus' birth and the name of his wife, Cassandane. But I have a question for you:

Herodotus in his brief review of the Median Empire prior to the birth of Cyrus, describes Cyrus' grandfather, Astyages, as the son and successor of Cyaxares; but Xenophon in his 'Cyropaedia' refers to Cyaxares as Cyrus' uncle and has the youthful Cyrus riding into battle with him... Do you have any idea which of these two notable ancient Greek writers is correct?
