Does petrified wood have different levels of petrification? Because i found a log (2'x8") in the river-it sounded like rock-it was extremely heavy-but was black-like charcoal (burned) on this same day I located another cypress log that was surely changing into rock-sounded like rock-looked like rock but was not quite solid. Just curious if during the process not all wood turns into petrified wood. Rebecca
