I think this Nation needs health care voted on " by the people ", health care that is explaned and understood by the voters. Not a rush job of thousands of pages, with last minute amendments and millions of dollars in vote payoffs. Did you know what you were getting? Would you sign a contract without reading it first? Do you actually trust your elected officals? Do you know how much this health care is going to cost you? Do you know what you are giving up, what you are losing? NO, I don't think the current president is doing anywhere near a "Good Job". In fact there hasn't been a "Good Job" done by a president since Regan.

Do you think he's doing a good job according to his own agenda?

It's obvious he doesn't want what 'we the people' want...so what does he want...really?

do you think his agenda is the same as the liberal's overall agenda, or do you think he has his own, un-discussed, agenda?

Blinks,

I have many ideas about his agenda. I don't think it has anything to do with any other agenda we are arguing about (as a country).

I am not a fan of liberal agendas in general. I am also not a large fan of many conservative agendas. In general, I support people who think, research, and act. That is as uncommon as hen's teeth in politics. Thus, it can be said, I don't support politicians in general however, I am not a nihilist or an anarchist. I do think we need government and laws and some basic taxation and representation. I am a federalist republican, if I can be described as anything.

I voted for this president mostly because I was not doing my duty and researching the candidates. I looked up, listened for a little while and made my decision, then went back to doing what I was doing (living). I suspect many people did this.

He was elected because his message was one of centrist based changes that many thinking people know America requires. Since the election he has proven to be uninterested in centrist based anything.
First he swings way left, alienating the overwhelming center that elected him, then he swings way right, alienating the liberals that are his base, (the financial bail outs have a lot in common with the corruption of the BushW years, this recent shrugging off of a right based law in Arizona, ignoring the liberal don't ask don't tell crowd).
He does all this while blithely telling everyone who gets angry...shut up, you should be grateful.

Barack Obama is standing alone. He is loyal to nothing. He is not compelled by any ideology that matters to America. Many see this standing alone as noble and brave. I don't. I am concerned. In fact, I am scared.
His policies are not going to improve America. He is standing alone and DESTROYING America...something the left and the right don't ever try to do on their own. Our system of checks and balances have always kept the over all picture 'on the track' so to speak.
Barack Obama is driving us off the tracks and out into the desert. He doesn't care how much we yell and scream about this. Eventually the left will start screaming too and he won't care about that either.

You ask me what I think his agenda is. I answer:
what is the agenda of a person who derails a system, doesn't seem to care if anyone is angry about this derailment, alienates all his friends who supported him, burns all his 'capital' (voting block) in the process of derailment and has a background almost completely unlike anything else found in the system he is derailing?

For the most part, I think Obama is a self centered, egotist who will drop the race card faster than you can say Al Sharpten (sp?). All he wants to do is "Look Good" and and keep his approval points up. If he were truly interested in what's right for the people, he would have focused on small business and employment development. Any "Goof" can throw money at a problem in the hope that it might fix it, and anyone with half a brain knows that that approach does not work. I'm convinced that the really smart people avoid being elected to the office of President

We need to set the record straight. When Obama first started with the health plan bill, the Republicans opposed it like it was snake venom. That was because it was thought to have provisions that might cost the health care companies money. So, the Republican opposition continued. Then, somone at one of the health care companies pointed out that "Wait a minute, we could have 40 million new customers with the government paying the bill". Stop those republicans in opposition. Stop they did and even Senator Grassley (R) Iowa began pointing out the benefits of the part of the bill he claimed he had inserted.

Don't you see its all about politics more than any other thing. And the corporations have the full attention of our senators that we elected. They probably have his cell phone number while we only get form letters back if we ask a simploe question.

To set the record straight as it truly is...Obama care will set enormous profits for both the health insurance companies and the gigantic pharma industries...you are completely missing the point!

This is not about what the politicians play games with on the hill this is about the 60% of Americans that sent a clear message to the democrats and the president that "we" did not want this Obamacare passed! They did it against the will of the people and that my friend is tyranny! The Republicans know damn well that the American people did not want the Health care reform and will use this fact to defeat the dems come the mid-term elections...this is a game! If there really was something for the Republicans to gain in this, besides reclaiming the white house, they, too, would have signed off on this terrible socialist legislation. When their turn comes again they will get right back to the business of controlling the public and furthering the demise of the Republic...they are all equally criminal and care less about you or your rights as an American. They put up the front that there is a battle on the hill between the left and the right but it is a facade and phony!

When the next election comes about the Republicans will again gain the majority rule and they will fund other big government projects that the American people will also say "we" do not want and they too will ignore what the people want! They are only playing a dangerous game with the lives and the sovereignty of the American people and neither side gives a crap about us! Just power and status and nothing more!

Almost all the politicians and the past four or five administrations are all funded and backed by the corporate dogs and these dogs are controlled by the central bank...
these men and women are ruled by greed and corruption and have lost sight of what the federal government was set up to do...protect 'our' freedoms and sovereignty from tyranny and foreign invaders...it is safe to say that the federal government has grown too big for its britches and is actually doing the opposite!

James, it sounds like you are ready for my "Plebiscite" plan. Thats where, we, vote on things using the internet instead of this inefficient way of electing 'senators' to do it for us. They only work 3 days a week anyway. Then the will of the people will be done right, wrong or otherwise.

The whole of the matters boils down to the fact that the will of the people is not being done. If a direct vote could be calculated via the internet with multiple safety structures in place I would remain weary of the reliability and confidentiality problems that will still exist. Too many variables for corruption remain. The electronic poling devices that have been employed in the last few elections have proven to be unreliable, at best. Case and point, the Florida elections and the thousand of disenfranchised black voters.

The voting process is a scared and coveted right of a free people and the more the process is mired down in technology the more likely the fraud. The best way is to cast the tried and true paper ballot! This old system was slow yet accurate and ballot counting rooms across the country were closely guarded and witnessed by many selected citizens and law enforcement.

The Plebiscite plan is exactly what I think should be implemented and the sooner the better. Just so to have the American people crank down the over reaching powers of the federal government. Let the people of this country bring back the Republic and the rule of law and vote out this socialist agenda that the incumbent officials are shoving down our thoughts...Democrats and Republicans...

My main reason for wanting to do this was to eliminate corruption. I thought, if we took control of the money away from them, then corruption goes along with it.

Its not politically motivated, its justice motivated.

Well, from that prospective, you are totally right, and the problem is that the congress doesn't control the money any longer...they handed that over to the Federal Reserve and wall street. Justice motivated correctly in this matter would be the issuance of federal indictments and arrest warrants for all those involved in the money scheme that caused the American public to loose 4.5trillion dollars of personal wealth in less than three months. There were the savings of little old people that now have nothing and small mom and pop shops that you see closing down in every place you look. There is no recourse for these people and there will be no compensation either...we are just out that money...

Google the unbelievable bonuses that these criminal people made at the horror and disbelief of their victims.

We really need to arrest the people responsible for the looting and put the wealth of this nation back into the hands of the people. Not capitalism, no way, but instead, privatization and full unwavering government transparency.
Bring back the Corporation Federal Charter that requires that all corporations must be involved in projects that are for the good of the people and the nation. This doesn't mean companies can not make a profit but it does mean that no corporation could ever again lobby a government official to sway political position with "money". No more lobbyist and no more special interest groups corrupting the system for simply greed!

Obama made a powerful campaign promise about this very thing and instead of following through with his pledge he shocked even his own constituents by filling cabinet member positions with the very elitist billionaire and millionaire lobbyist and bankers. Some of whom were directly and indirectly involved with the very schemes that caused the collapse to begin with. I was wordless...he did this his very first week in office!

Bankers and Wall Street elites and Mega Corporate Fortune 500 Club lobbyist have no business in side the federal government...they have bought our country and that is what Obama has surrounded himself with! This is a corporate take over and our president is willfully right in the middle of it.

You can probably make a valid point about the Federal Reserve and the guy that runs it. Its like letting the fox watch the chicken coop.

I am not aware that any government people were paid bonuses however.

Mom and Pop didn't lose anything. The government simply printed the money it used for the bailout. And these companies have been paying it back. In many cases the government made money on the stock they owned.

I know some people think we should have let these companies fail. Its poetic justice. Bad management - no return. It seems right but then look at all the people that would be out of work. GM goes down, AIG goes down and Goldman Sachs along with them. Then Citibank, Bank of America, and most of the stockbrokers. Now try to bring the economy back from that point. You would be the first to be unhappy about the unemployment levels and what it would cost to start over again. (If this is what you mean)

When Obama appointed his cabinet it was not known what Paulson's involvement with CDOs and Goldman was. That didn't come out until the senate hearings of last month.

Andrew, that is like the proverbial ostrich with its head in the sand. How can you say that moms and pops didn't loose any money? Of course the federal reserve printed more money, fiat money, but the deal was put to the American people as a ruse to fleece the American people. Paulson threatened the congress with biblical proportion doom and gloom if the United States Treasury wasn't handed over 750billion dollars to cover the Federal reserves ass on all the toxic assets better described as peoples homes with mortgages that were set up with fluctuating rates. Instead, the day after the congress bellied up like the cowards they are, Paulson changed his mind and instead of helping refinance the Mortgage boondoggle he was one of those individuals that instead gave money by the billions to buy up the crap assets of corrupt banks...the problem is the vault door was already open so the actual sum of money that was stolen was more like 28trillion, not the 750billion agreed too!

The goddamn corrupt bankers didn't pay back the vanished 4.5 trillion dollars they fleeced from the mom and pops, that money simply vanished. When the privately owned Federal Reserve Bank was asked where the money had gone they simply clammed-up and told congress that it was none of their business!

Don't you see? Any money that Goldman Sachs theoretically claims to have paid back was money that the American people are on the hook for through the printing presses of the Fed. They claim to have made profits and the little people were put out to the streets and the big shot corporate elites profited handsomely off our losses! It may look like on the books that these criminals repaid their debt obligation to the government but in all actuality they merely gave back some of the 'bail-out' money to make it only appear so!

Pualson clearly had a conflict of interest in all these matters as he was the Chief Executive officer of Goldman Sachs right up to the moment he was sworn in to the position as Treasury Secretary under Bush. He mislead the Congress about the intentions that he had for the bailout money and allowed some Banks to fail, but not his good ole' buddies at Goldman! Instead of recusing himself from the whole thing on grounds of conflict of interest he went to the White House to get an ethics waiver so he could continue with his double dealings!

Paulson is estimated to have a net worth of over 700million dollars...again Goldman Sachs had their grubby little hands in the American cookie jar and they pulled it off!

I think that this whole swindle is just so big and audacious that it is too big for you to get your head around it, you just can not believe it! And by the way, General Motors did not repay their debt as they claim, the people of this country still own 63% of the company!

If the banks were not bailed out then the proper action would have been for them to go through the bankruptcy process where all their assets would have been seized and the FDIC would have stepped in to compensate some of the monies that the mom and pops lost completely otherwise. There would have been federal investigations and people would have went to jail for fraud...the bailout allowed the fraud to pay off and the criminals got away with it! Because of the swindle the Corporate Big-Shots were entitled to their bonuses contractually but if Goldman Sachs was let go in to bankruptcy the contracts for bonuses would have been null and void and the bastards would have got nothing...we may have well been able to go after what other assets these men held and took that too! But now we will never know as all this is kept secret and away from public scrutiny...by people that are elected officials in our own government!

there is so much wrong with this statement I hardly know where to begin.
Okay
tell me you DON'T think printing money willy nilly is inconsequential. PLEASE tell me you know at least that much as you blithely discuss economics on a national scale

which companies are paying what back...the stimulus? no Andrew, those are accounting gadgets, not actual moneies paid back. I can't teach accounting here and now but, if you go to good news sources (not msnbc) they will explain how balance sheets are manipulated so that it appears money has changed hands, when in fact, all that has happened is that the money the fed is STILL PUTTING IN, is recycled so it looks like that money is being paid back by the company.
The companies they bailed out have no way to pay back anything. They are bankrupt. Broke. Nada. Finished.
In order for them to get money to pay back what they owe, the economy would have to get much better. People would have to start buying things like cars and houses in large numbers. Generally. people who are out of work don't buy things like that.
9.7%? sounds pretty close to ten to me. sounds pretty close to bad news for shopping sprees

and the last thing....the government MAKING MONEY
where do I start with that...when did the US gov't become a business? Who owns it? can we fire the dude cause he's doing a suck ass job?

how can you say the us gov't MADE money on anything (despite the fact that it shouldn't be in this sentence in the first place..it isn't SUPPOSED to be a business)
have you seen the debt figures? WE COULD Sell THE ENTIRE FRIGGIN COUNTRY AND NOT BE ABLE TO PAY THE DAMN DEBT!
The US is not making money Andrew...you talk like there is no problem...everything is cool
Mom and Pop didn't lose anything....its all good
I can't even think about that statement. Its like you don't anything about patriotism or loving your country. You have no clue what we've lost, do you.
