Can someone tell me, that in the absence of the Gelderse rookworst--what would be the most common substitute found in American stores. I am trying to make hotspot for my Dutch friend at Christmas Eve. I would like for him to have a taste of his homeland. I am an accomplished cook-but unfamiliar with Dutch cuisine. Also--if anyone has a tried recipe--it would be appreciated.
