John Hare is wrongly listed as having been born in Yorkshire.
He in fact was born in the sub district of Hanover Square [then]Middlesex on the 16th May 1844. His father was Thomas Fairs of no. 2 Hanover Street and his mother was Jane Armstrong.
The confusion is with the 1851 and 1861 census.
The former says born in London City, the latter originally says the same however someone has over wrote Lancashire.
His father died in 1848 when John was just 4 years old,he became a ward of Robert Armstrong his Mothers Brother.
Robert moved from his birthplace of Hagbourne in Berkshire to Tabley Superior Knutsford, which is how John Hare became a pupil at Giggleswick School.
