As WHO have said mercury amalgam fillings are toxic, I'm wondering why there is not a worldwide band of the ghastly stuff? Some of us in countries like uk can only get amalgam fillings for free & are too poor to pay for alternatives so a world wide legally binding ban would most welcome.

This is silly. The amount of mercury involved is stupidly small. Another bit of shoddy "science" from WHO. People have been getting amalgom fillings for generations and what has happened to life expectancy? Up, obviously. Mercury has become one of those greeny buzz words used to spark fear and generate funding for their non-productive organizations. Mercury free ions are shunted off to hair, fingernails, etc. by ones body. Huge amounts of Hg are harmful, but get real! Don't drink the stuff, don't play with it every day with bare hands, don't smoke it in your dope pipe. Otherwise stop worrying!

Mercury is notoriously difficult to eliminate from the body, it stays in the tissues causing all sorts of health problems, I don't think the research is shoddy at all. Most of the problems I have started shortly after a dentist stuffed my teeth with the muck.I was 14 at the time & only 1 tooth actually needed filling, (actually that went on alot in the 50s & 60s). 3 things that happened I got this infernal hiss in my ear, pins needles in my fingers which became very painful & "lumpy", & fibrommyalgia.
