Usage notes

  • This verb has been created as some kind of "perfect" equivalent of the verb expressing ownership or possession in some Indo-European languages, such as Swedish , German , English , French , Latin , Greek etc. — however, this is widely considered a "buzzword". The much more preferable and idiomatic way to express ownership or possession is to use the structure "adessive + 3rd sg. of olla", i.e. "Minulla on taitoja" ('I've got skills') instead of "Minä omaan taitoja".
